Frequently Asked Questions

What type of laser do we use?

We carry the Cynosure Apogee Elite Laser. It has 2 wavelengths so we can safely treat all skin types.

How does laser hair removal work?

It targets pigmented hairs in their active phase of growth and uses light energy to damage the cell that grows hair.

Does it hurt?

There may be some mild discomfort when the laser is activated. However, it generally fades soon after. Some say it feels similar to a rubber band snap, but this is patient pain level dependent. We use a cool air wand that blows cold air during the time of laser use to lessen any discomfort.

How long does the session take?

Each session time depends on the area being treated and can range from 15 min for the bikini area to 1.5 hours for full legs/back.

Will I need multiple sessions?

Yes, because of the hair growth cycle, you will need multple treatments. The number of sessions and time in between depends on the client and the area being treated. On average clients need 6-12 full treatments. There is no magic number. Somepeople require less, some a few more.

How long does it last?

After completing your full series of multiple treatments, you can expect to see significant reductions in hair re-growth. Your first session will not have lasting effects, due to the hair growth cycle. And some touch-up treatments may be required.

Is there any downtime?

Laser hair removal has no downtime and you do not need to adjust your daily routine.

Are there any adverse effects?

In some clients, the treated area may become red and show some swelling around each follicle, “razor bump” like reaction. This typically disappears within 24-72 hours.

What areas can be treated?

Laser hair removal can target any areas on the body EXCEPT eyebrows.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Yes, laser hair removal is very safe when it is performed by an expereinced provider.
